07Clumsy Blocks
2026

"Clumsy Blocks" deploys the generative error as a pragmatic tool for architectural massing. By embracing an intentional lack of coordination, the project introduces deliberate irregularities to disrupt how an environment is passively consumed. Rather than adhering to highly composed, seamless design, these blocks act as an awkward aggregate. They are intentionally "off". A calculated near-miss that commands a new, prolonged type of attention from the observer.
This framework of clumsiness directly challenges the usual ways we interact with and inhabit space. It questions preconceived architectural norms by occupying an ambiguous gray area between a rigorously planned artifact and an accidental misalignment. The resulting friction forces a pause, transforming standard placemaking into an active, questioning engagement with the physical environment.
