About

Tristan Farrows

Tristan Farrows is a designer based in Calgary, Alberta. He holds a Bachelor of Environmental Design from OCAD University and is a Master of Architecture candidate at the University of Calgary, where he is a repeating Graduate Teaching Assistant for Graphics courses.

Drawing from post-digital representation and concepts of "dumb" architecture, his approach rejects seamless perfection in favor of material deception and computational friction. He relies on clumsiness, intentional misalignments, and generative errors as standard operating procedures.

This approach received the Norman Fleming AAA Graduate Award. Professionally, he has worked at multiple architecture firms on projects ranging from residential to cultural. He mostly builds systems, waits for them to break, and uses the results.

The work shared on this site come in the form of drawings, models, photographs, and a few things that move.
